This divert load resistor is for use to divert the excess power being generated when your wind turbine generator batteries are full and can be ran at 100% duty cycle due to the quality rib wound design. It can also be used with a solar array in diversion mode.
Diversion dump loads are very important to have with a wind turbine to keep it from free spinning. The unit can be used alone to provide free heat as well by hooking your solar panels directly to it. Important note about wire gauge for this resistor bank when used with a relay: use 1 gauge cable for connections to the relay. Undersized wiring will cause heat buildup and cause the relay to fail prematurely.
You need to divert the excess power being generated to a load so your wind turbine generators will NOT go into high speed freewheeling in heavy winds.
Note: These resistors can get very hot and will put off FREE heat. They can be moved outdoors in a metal enclosure or under an awning or roof. Do not attach to wooden or other flammable surfaces.Dimensions:
