Heber Soto's Wind Turbine and HVA in Puerto Rico

Wind Turbine for Puerto Rico

Thank you to Heber Soto for making this great video of his wind turbine in Puerto Rico.

Many of you know that Puerto Rico was devastated by Hurricane Maria in 2017, leaving them without any grid power. Months later, utilities are still unreliable and can go out without notice.

A note from Heber:

"Jeff, Brian from Missouri Wind and Solar thanks a lot. Here are my 11 blade PMA, 10/100 watts panel 12v system that we install after Maria Hurricane through Puerto Rico."

Heber now has a Missouri Freedom 1600 Watt 11 blade wind turbine - great for lower average wind speeds like Puerto Rico - and a roof mounted solar panel array. Even in low wind speeds, he's producing 6 amps from the wind turbine. He paired his wind turbine and solar panels with the HVA hybrid wind & solar charge controller and a 12V battery bank to store power for use when he needs it. A simple bank of resistors serves as the diversion/dump load. His 3000 watt pure sine wave inverter is a great size for handling typical household appliances and features a 6000 watt surge rating.

This is an example of where a hybrid wind and solar power system work best together to get optimal power production. It's a more economical long term solution and better than running a noisy, costly generator. This is a very basic system that is easy to get up and going in a short time.
